ATSC releases new overview, tutorial of DTV system

The ATSC has completed an update of its guide to DTV, officially known as A/54A.

The document, a thorough overview and tutorial of the ATSC digital television system, is called “The Guide to the Digital Television Standard.”

According to the ATSC, the document provides a detailed explanation of the concepts underlying digital television and is a useful resource for program producers, broadcasters, receiver manufacturers and hardware and software vendors.

The guide, which covers four areas, including video/audio coding (T3/S6), transport (T3/S8), RF transmission (T3/S9), and receivers (T3/S10), is available via the Web.
