Bexel has purchased two high-definition Sony SRW-5000 studio recorders to expand its reach among producers of major motion pictures, independent productions and documentaries.

The studio recorders belong to Sony’s new family of HDCAM SR digital motion picture production tools that offer 4:4:4 RGB high-definition recording without pre-filtering or sub-sampling.
Sony's SRW-5000 studio recorders and BCT-SR series cassettes are part of the newly introduced HDCAM SR line, the high-end extension to Sony's CineAlta family of digital motion picture capture and production systems.
Both the SRW-5000 and the companion SRW-1 field recorder using BCT-SR cassettes capture the full detail of the Common Image Format 1920(H) x 1080(V) sampling structure in either the 4:4:4 RGB mode or the 4:2:2 component set without pre-filtering or sub-sampling. Legacy library material can be integrated into the HD format with an optional ability to playback Digital Betacam tapes and internally up-convert these to the 1080i HD format.
