Bexel acquires new Sony 4:4:4 HD recording system

Bexel has purchased two high-definition Sony SRW-5000 studio recorders to expand its reach among producers of major motion pictures, independent productions and documentaries.

The SRW-5000 studio VTR plays back standard HDCAM at all specified picture capture rates and records up to 12 channels of separately editable 24-Bit audio.

The studio recorders belong to Sony’s new family of HDCAM SR digital motion picture production tools that offer 4:4:4 RGB high-definition recording without pre-filtering or sub-sampling.

Sony's SRW-5000 studio recorders and BCT-SR series cassettes are part of the newly introduced HDCAM SR line, the high-end extension to Sony's CineAlta family of digital motion picture capture and production systems.

Both the SRW-5000 and the companion SRW-1 field recorder using BCT-SR cassettes capture the full detail of the Common Image Format 1920(H) x 1080(V) sampling structure in either the 4:4:4 RGB mode or the 4:2:2 component set without pre-filtering or sub-sampling. The SRW-5000 studio VTR plays back standard HDCAM at all specified picture capture rates and records up to 12 channels of separately editable 24-Bit audio.

Legacy library material can be integrated into the HD format with an optional ability to playback Digital Betacam tapes and internally up-convert these to the 1080i HD format.
