Brazilian network chooses Dielectric antenna for DTV

Dielectric Communications, a U.S. manufacturer of broadcast antennas and television transmission equipment, announced the sale and installation of its TUA-04SP-2/8U-1-T broadband antenna at Vanguarda, a television network located in São Paulo, Brazil.

The antenna, along with an NEC transmitter, will be used to deliver programming on one analog and one digital channel to more than 900,000 people in São Paulo.

The Dielectric TUA-04SP-2/8U-1-T was the first antenna intended for the operation of digital broadcasting in Brazil, the company said.

Vanguarda launched at São José dos Campos on April 1, 2003, broadcasting two simultaneous commercial breaks for two different generating repeater stations. On Aug. 21 of the same year, the network launched a full studio, operational center, news base, editing islands and transmitter.

Today, Vanguarda Network comprises two generating stations transmitting 50 channels to 46 towns in the interior of the state of São Paulo, Brazil’s main economic center.
