Broadcast TV and radio station count reaches nearly 30,000

As of the end of 2006, the FCC said there were 27,807 licensed broadcast stations in the United States.

The breakdown includes 1756 VHF and UHF commercial and educational TV stations, 2227 VHF and UHF low-power TV stations and 567 Class A VHF and UHF stations.

There are 13,837 AM and FM commercial and educational stations, 771 low-power FM stations and 8649 VHF and UHF translators and FM translators and boosters.
