CTV News uses Leitch 6800+ in control room

CTV, the largest independent national network in Canada, has upgraded its CTV News control room with a variety of modular interface products from Leitch.

Leitch’s 6800+ series Panacea modular routing switchers—compact routers that offer on-air quality in every format from analog to HD—are also part of the control room upgrade.

Andy Lee, director of engineering at CTV said they chose Leitch’s 6800+ modular interface platform because its high-density chassis consolidates a broad range of functionality within a single frame, allowing them to save on both facility space and system costs.

The 6800+ platform supports a range of functions including conversion, processing, distribution, monitoring, reference and timing. It features a module capacity of up to 20 cards in a 2 RU frame; support of digital/analog audio and video, HD and fiber optics; and is backward and forward-compatible with existing 6800 series-based infrastructures.

Fully compatible with Leitch’s Command Control System, the 6800+ platform also provides serial digital and Ethernet control of up to nine frames via one (optional) interface.
