New Telecast Viper II HD/POV module offers solution for remotes

The HD/POV supports bidirectional transmission of HD/SDI video and data signals from remote robotic cameras to provide broadcasters with an affordable solution for producing HDTV broadcasts at sports and entertainment venues.

Telecast Fiber Systems has released its high-definition, point-of-view (POV) transmission link. The latest addition to the Viper II family of modular fiber optic platforms, the HD/POV supports bidirectional transmission of HD/SDI video and data signals from remote robotic cameras to provide broadcasters with an affordable solution for producing HDTV broadcasts at sports and entertainment venues.

Available in either a rack-mountable or throw-down configuration, the 5400-series HD/POV module carries uncompressed HD/SDI broadcast-quality video from a remote POV camera, sends return video/genlock/tri-level sync back to the camera, and handles tally/closure signals and two full duplex control data signals for both camera and PTZ control.

Another version of the module adds four bidirectional analog audio signals to the mix.

The HD/POV links extend range and reduce labor costs by carrying all digitally and optically multiplexed signals on a single lightweight fiber optic cable to streamline the acquisition of HD images.
