Pace to showcase digital cable adapter

Pace Micro Technology Americas will introduce a device that allows digital cable operators to completely eliminate the carriage of analog signals.

Being billed as the world’s first Digital Cable Adapter (DCA), Pace said it will be shown along with its latest HD set-top technologies at the National Cable & Telecommunications Association’s (NCTA) upcoming National Show, scheduled for June 8 - 11 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Ill.

Pace said if cable operators could eliminate the carriage of analog signals on their networks they will dramatically increase their available bandwidth, which can then be used to offer new services and create new revenue paths. This idea of an “All Digital Cable Network” is not new, but is not yet reality, Pace said.

Pace said its DCA would convert digital video signals for viewing on analog television sets. The company said details would be revealed at a press conference during the National Show, Monday, June 9, at noon in the Press Room at McCormick Place.
