Sony unveiled a series of workflow technology products and solutions for professional broadcasters at this year's IBC2003.

The WLL-CA50 wireless receiver provides a highly optimized transmission system, which is exceptionally robust and stable even in normally difficult environments

In line with the growing adoption by audio and video production professionals of IT-based architectures, the advanced workflow solutions showcased by Sony ensure that evolving workflow solutions match current European user requirements.

Sony introduced:

  • The XDCAM family of products uses Professional Disc media. Professional Disc, based on blue-laser technology, completes an IT-based production chain with acquisition via nonlinear media at a cost comparable to tape. The XDCAM range of products are format neutral with an initial choice of MPEG IMX or DVCAM codecs, while metadata support is flexible enough to support formats such as EDL to computer files.

  • The WLL-CA50 and WLL-CA55 wireless transmitters and WLL-RX55 wireless receiver provide a highly optimized transmission system, which is exceptionally robust and stable even in normally difficult environments.

  • The DSR-PD170P, a hand held three CCD DVCAM camcorder, for event, corporate, broadcast and filmmaking scenarios.

  • The DXC-D50P camera features a high standard of picture quality thanks to Power HAD EX CCDs, 12 bit A/D conversion and advanced signal processing.
