Thales introduces new cable translator system



Features of the Amber translator system includes Web-based configuration and supervision, multiplex bandwidth management and overflow prevention and PSIP rebranding.

Thales Broadcast & Multimedia has unveiled Amber, a new cable translator system.

Amber is a broadcast-DTV-to-cable-network translator system that allows broadcasters to translate off-air digital TV broadcast signals into cable networks. This re-multiplexer combines ATSC/PSIP processing with a wide range of functions and flexible configuration.

Features include Web-based configuration and supervision, multiplex bandwidth management and overflow prevention, PSIP rebranding, PSIP protection and PSI reconciliation, broadcast-to-cable translation, dynamic configuration changes, and opportunistic data insertion.
