Videotek releases SQM-175 Macroblocking Detection Module

Videotek's new SQM-175 Macroblocking Detection Module further enhances the system capabilities of the SQM-Signal Quality Manager System.

The SQM-175 module accepts two independent composite analog signals. The module is applied to systems using Integrated Receiver/Decoders (IRDs) to receive digital satellite transmissions.

The Videotek SQM provides engineers with high quality signal SNMP based monitoring. The SQM-175 Macroblocking Detection Module augments the application of Videotek's SQM system by addressing the need to monitor errors in MPEG-2 streams.

The SQM-175 module accepts two independent composite analog signals. The module is applied to systems using Integrated Receiver/Decoders (IRDs) to receive digital satellite transmissions. Each IRD has an analog monitoring output that connects to the SQM-175 module. The SQM-175 module uses patented technology to analyze the analog signal for the existence of MPEG macroblocks and creates alarms upon detection. Alarm adjustments are available for sensitivity, duration and accumulated errors over time.
