BSkyB has installed a Chyron Pro-Bel Sirius routing switcher and a variety of control panels at the heart of the Westminster News Studio.

The router offers A-to-D and D-to-A conversion, fully automatic & transparent to operators. It also offers a mix of AES, SDI, ASI and HDTV signal in one frame.

The Sirius router - configured 96x96 in a 128x128 frame - together with numerous control panels, was installed at the end of March, with the first program due to go out in May. The router offers A-to-D and D-to-A conversion, fully automatic & transparent to operators. It also offers a mix of AES, SDI, ASI and HDTV signal in one frame. Its 8-channel I/O cards provide size to mix and match analog/digital, video/audio levels in one frame. An internal control card provides comprehensive control without additional rack units and it supports SNMP and Ethernet.

The Millbank studio, used primarily for political coverage and newsgathering, is located close to the Houses of Parliament, London. The facility includes three edit suites, a lines recording area, an interview studio and a four-camera studio.
