In the process of a four-year digital conversion of its production facilities, KJRH-TV in Tulsa, OK, has gone live to air with a 40-fader Calrec Zeta 100 digital console, the first such console sold in the U.S. since its debut at NAB2003.
An NBC affiliate, KJRH is focused on local news and community events, producing five hours of original programming per day.
The console, a smaller version of the company’s Alpha digital audio console, has been installed in KJRH's Studio A/B and is configured with 24 mono and 32 stereo channels.
Dale Vennes, KJRH’s engineering manager, said that the Zeta 100 is getting a workout with a “very heavy live workload,” so it was important that it include as many redundant features as possible.
In related news, Calrec Audio has appointed LA-based Audio Specialties Group (ASG) as its official distributor for the west coast.
Launched in 1998 with headquarters in Burbank, ASG consists of Audio Specialties, Bexel Audio, Intercom Specialties and Systems Wireless.
ASG clients include all of the major broadcast networks and mobile production companies. Recent major events supported by ASG companies include: Major League Baseball’s World Series, the Grammy Awards, the Woman's World Cup and the NASCAR-Winston Cup Awards Ceremony.
