Canopus makes splash with Edius HD editing solution

Canopus has hit the ground running with its new HD editing system that offers real-time mixed HD/SD timeline editing in an affordable turnkey system. Edius is targeted at the broadcast and content creation markets.

The EDIUS HD turnkey includes: the EDIUS Pro real-time HD editing software, the HDRX-E1 HD/SDI input/output card, the HD Codec, as well as the enhanced HQ codec.

The HD codec processes high definition video in 100Mb/s like Panasonic’s DVCPRO HD product. The Canopus HQ codec keeps the chroma sub-sampling at 4:2:2 and down samples the luminance resolution to 1440 and offers variable bit-rate encoding is an efficient way to ensure that each frame gets the appropriate amount of data required to produce high-quality HD video. Since its release, EDIUS HD has received Broadcast Engineering’s Pick Hits 2004 award.
