Creative Broadcast buys BBC Broadcast

The BBC’s Executive Board and the Board of Governors selected Creative Broadcast Services as the winner of a bidding process for the purchase of BBC Broadcast. The contract is signed and is awaiting approval from the Department of Culture, Media & Sport in the UK.

BBC Broadcast provides a full range of services, including the distribution and promotion of multimedia content for television and mobile phones. It currently broadcasts 61 streams, including public service and commercial channels, and interactive streams from the Broadcast Centre in West London.

The division was up for sale because a BBC team concluded that, while the services provided by BBC Broadcast are vital to the BBC, they did not necessarily need to remain owned by the BBC.

Creative Broadcast Services is owned by the Macquarie Capital Alliance Group and Macquarie Bank.
