Crown Castle tests mobile video service with DVB-H

Axcera, a manufacturer and integrator of such transmitters, has entered into an agreement with Crown Castle Mobile Media, a wireless broadband provider based in Pittsburgh, PA, to provide DVB-H transmission packages that will enable Crown to offer new content to subscribers’ cell phones and other portable receiving devices.

Axcera will provide equipment, integration and support for a test program that will include employees of Crown Castle Mobile Media, satellite dishes and receivers, DVB-H transmitters and climate-controlled outdoor enclosures.

The company will also supply integration services including complete factory system testing and FCC type acceptance, staging, installation and commissioning, as well as ongoing technical support for each cell site.

Axcera designed a line of L-band transmitters based on its existing Innovator LX low-power television transmitters for Crown Castle. The new product line is available in power levels ranging from 50W to 400W in single and diversity configurations.
