DST partners with Streambox for low bit rate video

Features built into the Streambox ACT-L3 Video Transport System include remote management, forward error correction, and cancellation, and "bandwidth shaping."

Digital System Technology (DST), a systems integrator based in Norcross, Ga., has partnered with Streambox to distribute the company’s real-time, multi-network Streambox ACT-L3 Video Transport System.

The Streambox ACT-L3 is said to deliver broadcast-quality interlaced video at 1.5 megabits per second over T1, ATM, or IP-based network or satellites. The system uses Streambox’s proprietary ACT-L codec.

The Streambox ACT-L3 Video Transport System is shipped with Microsoft Windows XP Embedded operating system and is software upgradeable with a solid-state hard disk. The codec relies on Intel Pentium 4 processors with hyperthreading technology to encode real-time interlaced video at 30fps. Features built into the system include: remote management, forward error correction, and cancellation, bandwidth shaping, and automated self-healing signal reconnect and restart.
