Fiber offers right solution for Ole Miss presidential debate contribution

Transmission of the first presidential debate Sept. 26 from the University of Mississippi relied on the Pure Digital Fiberlink 3150 Series of HD/SD-SDI fiber-optic systems.

The technical team at “Ole Miss” took advantage of the system’s support for DVB-ASI and used two pairs of 3150s to transmit live debate footage to the world. The first pair used single-mode fiber-optic cabling to distribute the DVB-ASI signal to the overflow venues located across campus. The second pair distributed the signal to the QAM HD cable feed located a mile away using one single-mode fiber to deliver the debate to millions of global viewers.

The Pure Digital Fiberlink 3150 Series offers broadcast-quality HD/SD-SDI transmission over a single fiber. It is SMPTE compliant, ensuring consistent, reliable results, even when connecting through third-party SMPTE 297-2006 devices.
