Fox plans new HDTV channels

Fox Networks is planning to launch two new HDTV channels in 2006. One is to be a high-definition version of the National Geographic Channel, which will launch in January. A second channel, to be called “Fox HD,” has no specific launch date. It will showcase programming from several Fox channels.

The network is pushing both cable and satellite operators to carry the new channels. In addition, Fox’s DirecTV is expanding its HD offerings next year with the launch of four new satellites devoted to HDTV.
