Fox Sports, an Australian subscription TV sports broadcaster, has installed a major new Quantel server-based editing system at its Sydney headquarters built around Quantel’s new generationQ technology.
At the heart of the new system are four QEdit Pro nonlinear editing machines supported by eight QCut editing seats, all of which in turn hook into four Quantel sQServers providing 290 hours of storage at 30 Mb/s (iFrame).
Quantel said efficient workflow is key to the new system. As fast-paced as highly competitive news, the new sports system is designed with the capability to ingest 16 live feeds shared between four departments while simultaneously playing those feeds out.
The new server-based system at Fox is augmented by two sQfx live playout control panels, one for each of Fox Sports studio, and joins the QPaintbox Pro broadcast video design system Fox bought earlier in 2003.
