GlobeCast has launched a series of new transatlantic satellite platforms to extend its coverage to three continents. Atlantic Bird 3 (AB3) at 5 degrees West and Atlantic Bird 1 (AB1) at 12.5 degrees West will provide distribution throughout Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, North America and South America.

The Atlantic Bird fleet comprises of Eutelsat's Atlantic Gate neighborhood, an extensive distribution system on both sides of the Atlantic. Atlantic Bird gateways include C- and Ku-Band platforms on Atlantic Bird 3 (formerly Stellat 5) for permanent distribution services and a Ku-band platform on Atlantic Bird 1 for ad-hoc applications.

The Atlantic Bird 3 (C-Band) platform offers customers low-cost distribution from Europe to the U.S. East coast, the European continent, Africa, the Middle East and parts of Asia with one-hop.

In New York, GlobeCast and Eutelsat have established the first dedicated AB3 gateway from North America, with the recent construction of a new 9.3-meter antenna at its earth station in Staten Island, N.Y. Iran TV, Tapesh TV and AssyriaSat are among recent customers to join GlobeCast's AB3 Ku-Band platform for DTH distribution.

GlobeCast's Atlantic Bird 1 (Ku-band) platform offers programmers a dedicated transatlantic ad-hoc gateway with extensive three-continent coverage, reaching Europe and the Middle East, the East Coast of North America and full continental coverage of South America. Ideal for news, special events and sports contribution, GlobeCast's network broadcast mode ensures simultaneous program delivery to all three continents with one uplink. A Scientific-Atlanta PowerVu multiplex in New York and London supports the AB1 platform.
