An organization devoted to journalistic best practices in radio and television plans to offer four workshops later this year focusing on how to better cover the 2004 political campaign.

Best Practices in Journalism, a group sponsored by Wisconsin Public Television, has announced a preliminary schedule of events, covering topics that range from producing debates to campaign finances. The group’s tentative schedule includes:

  • Campaign 2004: Covering the Key Issues, April 24-25

  • Campaign 2004: How to Produce Debates, May 15-16

  • Campaign 2004: Money and Politics, June 5–6

  • Campaign 2004: Covering the Home Stretch, July 16–18

No venue has been set for the events. More information will be available from the group as the workshops fill.

The group welcomes reporters, assignment editors, producers and news directors from public and commercial stations.
