Harris premieres next-generation automation platform

At IBC, Harris demonstrated a new working version of its Broadcast Presentation Manager (BPM) application, a next-generation automation, control, playout and management platform that resides within the Harris Resource Suite of applications in a shared environment. The new software provides sophisticated ingest-to-broadcast workflow management and extends the benefits of automation beyond the master control environment.
Set to begin shipping in late spring 2005, the Harris BPM products include Air Manager, Schedule Manager, Resource Management and an enhanced device control core. All of these products use TCP/IP connectivity to provide mission-critical, play-to-air device control for both single and multichannel broadcasters.
Master control operators can use Air Manager to monitor real-time channel playout, view multiple on-air channels simultaneously and manually edit metadata. The Schedule Manager provides distributed, secure, multi-user access to manage and update the schedule. Resource Management enables priority-based sharing through distributed management and access to resources across the enterprise for the efficient use of devices and redundancy strategies.
