Gearhouse Broadcast scores new contract to set up Tennis Masters Cup

The stadium will have 13 cameras covering the event. It will incorporate the Thomson LDK-23 supermotion systems and Sony BVP-950 cameras, six EVS hard disk recorder machines, numerous industry standard digi beta A500 tape machines and a jimmy jib.

Gearhouse Broadcast has been contracted to provide the technical facilities for this year's Tennis Masters Cup, which takes place November 10th-16th in Houston, Tex.

The company will provide a modular fly-away system for the events. It will feature state-of-the-art digital rigs consisting of video, audio, monitor, CCU and communications systems housed in cabins installed on site.

The venue is the Westside Tennis Club where an 8,500 seat stadium has been built around a hard court specifically for the Tennis Masters Cup. Gearhouse Broadcast was involved in elements of the stadium’s design to ensure camera positions providing the best camera angles were created.

The stadium will have 13 cameras covering the event. It will incorporate the Thomson LDK-23 supermotion systems and Sony BVP-950 cameras, six EVS hard disk recorder machines, numerous industry standard digi beta A500 tape machines and a jimmy jib. There will also be an additional two control rooms, one for ESPN ‘add-on’ and one for the World Feed ‘add-on.

Full linear editing facilities will be provided for ESPN, TPL Newsfeed and other broadcasters onsite. The edit suite will consist of a Sony DVS-2000 vision switcher, Sony BVE-2000 edit controller and Sony DME-7000 digital video effects.

The audio set up will consist of two Soundcraft B800 broadcast consoles. Sennheiser SK5012 bodypacks and SKM5000 handheld transmitters will also be used.
