Gepco introduces new HD hybrid fiber camera cables and cable assemblies
Apr 17, 2003 12:00 PM
Gepco displayed its new HDC120 series at NAB2003.
The series consists of the HDC120 and HDC120PU 12mm heavy-duty
hybrid fiber cables for SMPTE 311M HD camera applications. Both cables
feature an increased overall diameter, larger gage copper conductors,
and Kevlar-reinforced and tube-jacketed single mode fibers for added
durability.
The 12mm Gepco HDC120 series utilizes two
conductors for streamlined termination and reduces the possibilities of
electrical faults.
Also available are pre-terminated cable assemblies, which use the
12mm Lemo connector along with Gepco’s proprietary Kellem
Adapter. Gepco’s Kellem Adapter with Kellem metal strain relief
substantially reduces stress from flex, pulling and twisting, greatly
improving the durability of the connector and cable termination.
The buffered coating on the fiber is a nylon-based polymer that has
three times the tensile strength of conventional coated fiber found in
other hybrid fiber cables.
The 12mm Gepco HDC120 series utilizes two conductors for streamlined
termination and reduces the possibilities of electrical faults. In
addition, the 12mm cables’ thicker and larger outer jacket is
less prone to getting caught under camera tripods.
The HDC120PU features large gage conductors, standard-sized breakout
fibers and extra-rugged polyurethane. Both HDC120 cables and the
existing HDC920 series all now feature heat-resistant insulation,
making the cables stable in high temperature environments.
