Television Systems Limited (TSL) has won a joint contract with
Portuguese company Ibertelco from RTP (Radiotelevisao Portuguesa),
Portugal's state-owned broadcaster.
The contract is for the relocation of RTP's main television news and
transmission facilities into a new building in Lisbon. The new facility
will be housed in what was an old diamond factory. Extensive renovation
and expansion work has been carried out including a new News Studios
and expanded News Room, new Continuity Room for six channels, and new
MCR and CAR rooms.
The broadcast facilities include a digital newsroom system, based
around Quantel/Omnibus technology that TSL installed for RTP in 2000/1.
Included in the contract is a new Pro-Bel router. The rest of the core
equipment will remain unchanged. A team of TSL and Ibertelco
specialists are working on site.
