Senate Committee drops media provisions from Pentagon bill

The Department of Defense authorization bill no longer has media-related provisions. The legislation included a new GOP-backed compromise that would have raised the cap on indecency fines to $500,000.
Lawmakers made the decision after Sen. Byron Dorgan, (D-N.D), said he would fight to include a provision in the package that would stop the FCC from relaxing its media ownership rules.
