Edward P. Hobson, a vice president at engineering firm National TeleConsultants, has been named a BKSTS-The Moving Image Society (British Kinematograph Sound and Television Society) Fellow. The organization, founded in London in 1931, represents those involved in the business of providing moving images and associated crafts.

In addition to his role as a VP of National TeleConsultants, Hobson is also the current president of the SMPTE (Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers) and a SMPTE Fellow. Elected president of the SMPTE in 2004, one of Hobson’s first initiatives was to join the BKSTS and encourage renewed collaboration between the two societies.

Hobson began his career as a college radio broadcaster; Hobson today has more than 35 years of experience in broadcast engineering and operations. His professional career includes positions at Capital Cities and General Electric Broadcasting, the Grass Valley Group, Graham-Patten Systems and Sony Broadcast and Professional Group. He co-founded Omneon Video Networks before joining National TeleConsultants.
