HTN Communications builds transmission network for live sports broadcasts

Nov 21, 2007 8:22 PM

HTN Communications is building a national DTM fiber-optic network service for delivery of sports programming across the United States. With the demand for live event broadcasts increasing, HTN is now deploying a network to meet the need for the transport of SD and HD sports programming using Net Insight’s Nimbra transmission platform.

Starting with this year’s NHL and NBA seasons, the first phase will cover approximately 10 venues, with a continued rollout to other pro sports venues throughout the season. The network will significantly increase bandwidth and the service offering at the venues including multiple HD and SD video backhaul capabilities originating from each venue.

Net Insight’s Nimbra platform provides quality of service and real-time capabilities. It also features the capability to transport HD-SDI streams alongside SDI, any-size MPEG (ASI and IP), audio (AES-EBU and E1) and Ethernet data traffic over a common network.
