IBC2008 to screen ‘Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D’

IBC2008 attendees may feel a bit like fictional explorer Arne Saknussen as they sit back Monday, Sept. 15, in the D-Cinema and take in “Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D,” which is billed as “the first live-action narrative motion picture to be shot in digital 3-D.”
While the movie promises an updated cast of characters and a modern setting, it seeks to create the same vivid, inner world Jules Verne originally described in his 1864 novel, only this time the photorealistic landscapes won’t be created in the mind’s eye, but on the digital projection screen thanks to cutting-edge 3-D technology.
The film marks the big-screen directorial debut of Academy Award-winning visual effects veteran Eric Brevig.
