IBC2008 to conduct stereoscopic 3-D theme day

Stereoscopic 3-D will play a major role at IBC2008, when the conference theme Monday, Sept. 15, shifts to 3-D moviemaking and presentation.

Preceding the 3-D stereoscopic theme day will be a transatlantic 3-D HD interview of Dreamworks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg. The next day, the examination of 3-D stereoscopic technology shifts into full gear with a variety of sessions, including:

• Capturing and creating stereoscopic 3-D content, which will examine the numerous ways to generate stereo images, from motion capture and live action to cyberspace;
• Putting it all together, which will look at the tools needed to visualize, preview and post new content;
• The presentation alternatives and considerations for exhibitors;
• Unique to cinema, but for how long?, which will examine the role broadcasters will play in stereoscopic 3-D content presentation as well as the likelihood of 3-D DVD players and the studio preparations they’ll demand.

The day’s theme-related activities will wrap up with a special screening of “Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D.”
