Indiana’s WANE-TV places news production under robotic control

Following a continuing trend throughout the broadcast industry, LIN Television’s WANE-TV, in Fort Wayne, Ind., has virtually automated its news production with technology from DNF Controls and Parkervision, that control four unmanned robotic cameras in the studio.

The combination of ParkerVision's DIGITAL CameraMan II system and DNF Controls' ST420 Shotbox allows WANE-TV staff to instantly recall camera presets for streamlined control over camera movements and easy setup between shows and other productions.

DNF Controls' ST420 Shotbox memorizes camera presets and operates in conjunction with ParkerVision's DIGITAL SHOT Director to control WANE-TV’s DIGITAL CameraMan systems. The ST420 allows the news crew to easily organize and recall camera positions by displaying pre-determined camera moves on its control panel. It also offers an easy-to-use, virtual alphanumeric keyboard for creating and assigning preset labels.
