Inlet Technologies, a provider of digital media production workflow solutions, has issued a new release of its encoding solution, Fathom 2.8.
Inlet said it had re-engineered Fathom 2.8 with proprietary technology to deliver best-in-class SMPTE VC-1 and Windows Media output quality.
As part of the release, Inlet introduced the Fathom S Series, designed specifically for SD content. This variant of Fathom supports both live and file-based input and includes unique workflow tools such as closed-caption support (CEA 608, CEA 708 and SAMI).
Inlet said Fathom was currently the only solution on the market that supported closed captions with advanced encoding, a critical requirement for media producers creating content for VOD or IPTV applications. Another new feature is multichannel audio support, featuring AC3 Dolby Digital pass-through.
Fathom 2.8 will begin shipping in early autumn. With Inlet's support and maintenance program, all Inlet customers can receive product upgrades at no additional charge.
