JVC debuts new ProHD camcorder

JVC Professional Europe has introduced the GY-HD251, an HDV camcorder that offers live, uncompressed 1080i/50 and 720p/50 via HD SDI with embedded audio.

JVC said the ProHD camera's multi-dimensional design made it equally suitable for ENG, EFP and studio applications. The optional KA-HD250 studio adaptor has full 26-pin camera control alongside the HD SDI and SDI output. The operating voltage of the GY-HD251 is 12V DC, via either the built-in battery V-plate from IDX or the 4-pin XLR input.

Increased connectivity comes in the form of BNCs for genlock, time code in/out, SDI and HD SDI out, plus a 6-pin connector for remote control.

Both Fujinon and Canon will supply four new 1/3in bayonet mount lenses for the camcorder. JVC said all 200 Series camcorders were equipped with dynamic shading compensation to minimize any lens aberrations.
