Univision 34 Chooses SGL FlashNet

Univision 34 of Los Angeles (KMEX-TV), a Spanish-language news channel, has selected storage/archive management software from Software Generation (SGL) for its recent newsroom upgrade to Avid Technology systems.

The station, part of the Univision Television Group, chose SGL FlashNet to work in tandem with an Avid Unity MediaNetwork system. Editors working on Avid NewsCutter NLE systems will access clips via an SGL/StorageTek solution.

The new digital system allows Univision 34 to store all of its news by sending material from the Avid Unity MediaNetwork via Avid NewsCutter to the SGL archive. Material is then retrieved when required using Avid Unity MediaManager and SGL FlashNet, providing Univision 34 with a much faster, more accurate system.
