MLB Advanced Media, ITVN reach distribution agreement
Interactive Television Networks (ITVN) has entered into a distribution agreement with Major League Baseball Advanced Media (MLBAM) under which ITVN's MLB.com programming will include next-day condensed games, daily highlights and a selection of full-length classic games.
ITVN manufactures a low-cost, compact set-top box that links the home television to broadband networks and services without the need for a personal computer. MLB.com content will be available on ITVN starting in December 2006.

Marketer strikes deal for collegiate bowl DVDs
Collegiate Images, on behalf of the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) and Fox Sports Productions, has licensed the home video/DVD rights for the Tostitos BCS National Championship Game, the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, the FedEx Orange Bowl and the Allstate Sugar Bowl to Team Marketing, a division of Wax Works, in partnership with on-demand, independent publishing marketplace Lulu.
The four DVDs will feature the on-air broadcast of the games and a bonus feature section.
Turner Sports promotes Pomeroy
Turner Broadcasting’s Turner Sports has promoted Jeff Pomeroy to senior director of public relations. Pomeroy, who joined TBS in 1999, will continue to direct all media relations activity for Turner Sports TV programming.
GlobeCast signs delivery deal with UEFA Champions League
Content management and delivery company GlobeCast has extended its nine-year relationship with UEFA in a deal to provide worldwide coverage of the UEFA Champions League to non-European rights holders for the next three seasons.
The club competition will be distributed to 26 territories via GlobeCast’s content delivery network, including downlink and uplink services, space segment capacity, encoding, encryption and multilingual helpdesk services.

Andoos takes QuStream sales position
Keith Andoos has joined QuStream as northeast area sales manager. The appointment is part of QuStream’s goal to expand its presence in the HD broadcast and TV markets. Andoos will cover Manhattan and the metropolitan New York area as well as Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.
NBC Universal receives honors for Torino Olympics coverage
NBC Universal has received three "Olympic Golden Rings" from the International Olympic Committee for its coverage of the 2006 Torino Winter Games. An international jury at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland, announced the awards.
The "Olympic Golden Rings" is an international competition to promote and reward excellence in TV broadcasting of the Olympic Games.
Sony forms sales, marketing team focused on HD sports transition
Sony Electronics has formed a dedicated sales and marketing team focused on the professional and collegiate sports area.
The goal is to help those in the sports production industry ease their transition to HD. Based in Park Ridge, NJ, Sony’s new sports sales and marketing solutions team will be led by Steve Stubelt. It will work with professional sports organizations, broadcast networks and OB truck companies.
