Wireless subscribers get NASCAR racing live
During August, ESPN and MediaFLO USA, a subsidiary of QUALCOMM, have been providing NASCAR races live to AT&T and Verizon Wireless subscribers on their mobile phones.
MediaFLO USA's mobile TV service is available to AT&T subscribers as AT&T Mobile TV with FLO and to Verizon Wireless customers as V CAST Mobile TV.
Live race coverage of the NASCAR Nationwide Series, as well as six Sprint Cup Series races on ESPN Mobile TV, has been featured on the two services Aug. 10-Aug. 31.
In addition to NASCAR, MediaFLO USA will continue to bring sports fans a variety of sports programming from CBS, ESPN, FOX and NBC Sports on NBC 2Go throughout the year. Since launching service with V CAST Mobile TV from Verizon Wireless in March 2007, MediaFLO USA has delivered more than 3000 hours of live sports coverage.

German OB company routes with Cyngus
German outside broadcast service provider nobeo, part of the Euro Media Group, has selected routing technology from Pro-Bel to sit at the heart of a brand new OB unit built by systems integrator Sono. The company has installed a 576 x 576 Cygnus router for a new 16-camera truck, using both fiber and coax inputs and servicing, among other things, two master control rooms and a Sony MVS 8000 production switcher.
Cygnus supports 1080p 3Gb/s signals and offers up to 576 x 576 routing in a compact 26RU frame, including PSUs. There is also a 288 x 576 version in a 21RU housing.

Eurosport streamlines operations with NodalMaster
NETIA’s NodalMaster software is being used at Eurosport, one of Europe's leading sports multimedia platforms, to streamline reception and routing of A/V feeds across its all-digital broadcast center, based near Paris.
Installed in the Eurosport master control room, the NodalMaster provides a single interface for controlling all the routing and processing equipment in a nodal suite, from A/V program schedules to A/V tuning equipment and monitoring devices, while enabling operators to make links or switch from any source to any target.
Eurosport’s master control room staff can prepare transmissions either in advance or in real time, choosing sources and their associated destinations. NodalMaster provides a grouped visualization of all switches related to a given transmission event, along with grouped audio and video processing for main switches. The software system, which is compatible with 5.1 audio and HD content, allows audio feeds to be handled independently of video.

HME intercom connects production teams at X Games
HME provided the communication system for the 3-D camera crews at the recent 2008 X-Games in Los Angeles. The system connected crews working at the Staples and Home Depot Centers amid high levels of RF interference.
Using HME’s DX100 wireless intercom system camera, crews spread across the entire length of the Staples Center to cover the "big air" events were able to easily communicate. The DX100 allowed the crews to take their positions and move around the event as required without losing communication. At the Home Depot Center, the parking lot and stadium events were covered.
The DX100 is designed using the latest digital techniques such as frequency hopping spread spectrum with encrypted signals for secure, interference-free communication. Diversity antennas and dual-slot diversity ensure that the strongest audio signal is transmitted and received, further improving the clarity of conversations.
