Local PBS HDTV channels get DIRECTV carriage

Local PBS stations carrying HDTV programming will soon be seen on DIRECTV. The satellite carrier began rolling out the stations on its service last week.
DIRECTV is launching PBS stations carrying HDTV in 14 markets and will continue to launch in additional markets through mid-February, when analog television will be shut down. The launches are part of an agreement announced last year with DIRECTV, PBS and the Association of Public Television Stations
DIRECTV said local PBS stations in HD are now available in: Cedar Rapids-Waterloo-Iowa City-Dubuque, IA; Chicago; Davenport, Iowa-Rock Island-Moline, IL; Detroit; Houston; Los Angeles; Miami-Fort Lauderdale; Minneapolis-St. Paul; New York; Norfolk-Newport News, VA; Phoenix; Portland, OR; Rochester, NY; and Waco-Temple-Bryan, TX.
