MAINDATA launches DVB-ASI to IP adapter

MAINDATA has introduced a DVB-ASI to IP adapter that allows transmission of MPEG-TS (Transport Stream) via the Internet within DVB-H, DVB-T, DVB-S and IPTV networks.

The DVB-ASI to IP adapter supports forward error correction code compliant with the Pro-MPEG Code of Practice No. 3, release 2.

MPEG-2 TS containing audio and video content compressed by different algorithms such as MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and H.264, often has to be transmitted over long distances, while DVB-ASI physical layer supports distances of only up to 300m.

The DVB-ASI to IP adapter allows transmission of DVB-ASI/MPEG-2 TS via IP networks. At one end it converts DVB-ASI output interface into IP/Ethernet output, and on the other, IP/Ethernet input into DVB-ASI output interface. This solution is independent from video compression, so it can carry any AV stream in DVB-ASI MPEG-2 TS format via IP network.
