Media Bureau extends cross-ownership waiver, renewal deadline

Dec 10, 2008 8:03 AM

The FCC Media Bureau Dec. 8 extended for 30 days the time granted to several media companies to file amendments for waiver requests or renewal applications as well as requests for permanent waivers to the commission’s newspaper-broadcast cross-ownership rules.

The bureau granted the extension to Cox Enterprises, Calvary, Bonneville International, Scranton Times and Morris Communications. The extension will give the commission additional time to consider a request from the media companies to delay the deadline for the waivers or applications until 90 days following the final court order on challenges to the FCC’s modified cross-ownership rules.

The new deadline for the filings is Jan. 7, 2009.
