Meredith has relaunched its Local Media Group Web sites with new video players, live weather radars, breaking news alerts and several other design and technology upgrades.

According to Tim Reynolds, director of interactive media for the Local Media Group, the redesign provides 6 million unique monthly users with comprehensive local news Web sites in each market. Meredith owns 12 TV stations.

The redesigned Web sites feature increased social media and the opportunity for viewers to connect with each other and on-air talent via blogs, slide shows, Facebook and Twitter. Local station Web sites also are now available as an iPhone application. Viewers can visit iTunes to get the latest news on their mobile device.

“The relaunch of our Web sites allows us to give viewers news when and how they want it — whether it’s on television, the Internet or their mobile device,” said Paul Karpowicz, president of the Meredith Local Media Group.
