At IBC2006, Microwave Radio Communications (MRC) showed its newest solutions for HD capture for outside broadcast operations, and a new platform that supports IP connectivity for real-time streaming or non-real-time video file transfer.

The company showed:

  • The PTX-PRO transmitter with advanced HD/SD encoding and multiple digital modulation modes. The SD version is now available, while the HD/SD version will be available early in 2007.
  • VPS-PRO Van Portable System, which provides a convenient way to rack mount the MRC PTX-PRO and STRATA portables in OB/ENG vehicles.
  • MDR-2 portable, dual diversity COFDM receiver system designed to support robust COFDM transmission from camera mounted or moving portable transmitters.
  • The MTX4000, a new multimode modulator and companion unit to the CodeRunner 2 or STRATA. Planned features include a new generation HD/SD encoder-modulator that uses advanced LDPC error correction, capable of providing good quality HDTV at 10Mb/s, and contribution quality at 18Mb/s.
  • SCM4000 variable rate modem for OB/ENG and fixed links ASI multiplexing, integral MPEG-2 SD encoding, LAN extension, T1/E1, DS3/ E3 and SMPTE 310M interface.
