Multicam Lite accepts DV, DVCPR025 or OfflineRT clips and generates XML files that can be imported into Final Cut Pro, which recreates the edits in the source footage.

British software developer Digital Heaven’s multi-camera editing solution for Apple’s Final Cut Pro 4.1 or higher is now available.

Multicam Lite is a stand-alone application that enables users to edit footage from up to three cameras in real time. It accepts DV, DVCPR025 or offlineRT clips and generates XML files that can be imported into Final Cut Pro, which recreates the edits in the source footage.

The software offers built-in trimming and camera swapping features. When the editing session is finished, the XML file is imported back into Final Cut Pro where all the cuts are automatically recreated for further efforts work or output.

The software is available for download. A demo is also available, although it won’t save XML files until a license is purchased. The system, which will be able to handle up to 20 cameras, is in development and should ship by the end of this quarter.
