MultiDyne founder Vincent Jachetta dies at 70

Vincent Jachetta, who founded MultiDyne Video & Fiber Optic Systems in 1977, died Sept. 2.
MultiDyne Video & Fiber Optic Systems founder Vincent Jachetta died Sept. 2 at 70.
Jachetta started the company in 1977 with the development of the a portable test signal and ID generator. He provided leadership and direction for more than 30 years, while designing and developing many of MultiDyne’s products and systems. He also made numerous contributions to the broadcast industry, including developing a long-haul equalizing video distribution amplifier that helped get CNN on the air.
Jachetta began his TV career as the chief engineer with Lewron, a production company that owned and operated a mobile production truck in the late 1960s and 1970s that was used in the production of professional wrestling and “The Bill Moyers Show.”
Jachetta held other positions at several TV networks, including ABC, CBS and NBC, with the majority of his career spent working for NBC. Jachetta is survived by his wife, Joan, and two sons, Jim and Frank. All are executives with MultiDyne.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that a charitable donation in the name of Vincent Jachetta be made to the American Lyme Disease Foundation.
