NBA.com sets all-time Web record during finals

NBA.com scored the all-time largest number of visits for a sports Web site this summer. More than 5.6 million hits were reported in a single day, June 5, during Game 1 of the NBA Finals.

That’s a 65 percent increase over the previous finals record of 3.4 million set on June 7, a year earlier. The NBA.com estimates that as many as 55 million fans will visit its site during the seven-game championship.

In addition, more 500,000 hours of video are expected to be viewed by fans through NBA TV online offerings. Including the playoffs, NBA.com has surpassed 1 billion visits in a full season for the first time ever, with 1.2 billion visits to date. Overall visits have increased more than 60 percent this season compared to a year ago.
