News Corp. to sell nine television stations

News Corp. announced last week that it will sell nine of its U.S. television stations.

The stations, all Fox affiliates, are WJW-TV, Cleveland; KDVR-TV, Denver; KTVI-TV, St. Louis; WDAF-TV, Kansas City; WITI-TV, Milwaukee; KSTU-TV, Salt Lake City; WBRC-TV, Birmingham, AL; WHBQ-TV, Memphis; and WGHP-TV, Greensboro, NC. Allen & Co. was hired to advise News Corp. on the sales.

News Corp. has 35 owned-and-operated stations in the United States. After the nine stations are sold, Reuters reported that Fox would have nine duopolies in major markets as well as single stations in eight mid- to large-sized markets.
