News-Press & Gazette automates with Sundance Digital

News-Press & Gazette, a privately owned communications company based in St. Joseph, MO, has chosen Sundance Digital as the automation vendor for a number of its TV stations. Sundance will supply its FastBreak NXT packages to automate News-Press & Gazette's spot insertion, program playout and satellite recording processes. The move also provides an upgrade path to Sundance Digital's Titan system, offering more complete automation of the entire broadcast and production devices within its facilities, when they are ready.

KVIA-TV, the ABC affiliate in El Paso, TX, will receive the first Sundance Digital system, with an on-air date scheduled for Sept. 1, 2006. KTVZ in Bend, OR, and KECY-TV in Yuma, AZ, will follow suit later this year.

Jim DeChant, director of technical operations for News-Press & Gazette, said the goal was to find a practical and economical approach to streamline the handling of content and make its properties more efficient and error-free. The Sundance Digital system does that and more.

News-Press & Gazette's FastBreak NXT automation packages will include Sundance's Intelli-Sat to manage satellite feed recording and ListSync for system redundancy. FastBreak NXT combines the latest in Windows shortcuts and navigation techniques with a customizable, automation-centric framework to provide a cost-effective package for individual stations operating one to several channels in their facility.
