Nucomm unveils vehicle-mounted transmitters

The Newscaster VT's front panel “Smart Display” and internal microprocessor controls and monitors all functions and parameters of the transmitter, including channel selection, RF power levels, audio subcarrier selection (on/off, levels) and antenna polarity select.

Nucomm’s VT1 and VT2 vehicle-mounted transmitters operate in both the analog and digital modes. The VT2 comes with a COFDM modulator and MPEG-2 encoder built into the unit. Other digital modulations are also available with external modulators/encoders.

The Newscaster VT's front panel “Smart Display” and internal microprocessor controls and monitors all functions and parameters of the transmitter, including channel selection, RF power levels, audio subcarrier selection (on/off, levels) and antenna polarity select.

The operator can control the “Pan and Tilt” through the newscaster control unit with a joystick.

The Newscaster VT consists of a rugged and weatherproof mast mount RF unit and 1 RU rack mount control unit.

The RF unit generates the microwave signal and mounts near the NewsBlaster antenna. A triax or coax cable is needed to power and control the Newscaster transmitter. The microprocessor (RS-232) controls and monitors data signals. The Control unit mounts in the truck. It provides a 70 MHz IF signal to the RF unit as well as controls and monitoring via the “Smart Display.”

The Newscaster VT is available in single and multiband configurations from 1.5 to 15.4 GHz with RF power levels from one to 12 watts. Other features include “video presence detector” for remote standby operation, variable RF power output and optional signal generator with color bars and ID.
