The LamaBox allows users to choose from a collection of audio and video, that can be played on a TV.
The LamaBox is a new VCR-sized media player that allows Internet users to access peer-to-peer networks.
Offered by a Dutch company through Lamabox.com, the Linux-based device is an intelligent media player that allows users to choose from a variety of audio and video content. This includes the latest movies and television shows, playable on a television at the press of a button. Once a movie is downloaded, the content can be burned to a DVD.
User-friendly features include a P2P-spider to assist in finding content, the automatic addition of subtitles to movies, and the ability to watch live Internet TV and audio programming with time shifting.
LamaBox can access BitTorrent, eDonkey, FastTrack, Gnutella and Overnet. Prices range from $328 for a 40GB model to $564 with a 400GB hard drive and DVD burner. The units can be upgraded to 1.5TB of storage. The Web site cites a five-week wait time for delivery due to high demand.
