The news agency Reuters has begun streaming video coverage of the war in Iraq on its free Web site. Called Reuters Raw Video, the special war service will give Internet users direct access to frontline war footage.

Rich Sabreen, executive vice-president and global head of Reuters Media, said “by bringing raw video footage directly to Reuters.com we are extending access to the reporting strength of Reuters — known globally for speed, accuracy and impartiality — directly to consumers."

Sabreen said the 24-hour-a-day service follows the re-launch of Reuters.com last year. The feed will also include war-related news conferences and government briefings.

Reuters has a team of 150 print, photography and television journalists on duty in Iraq and the surrounding countries. Around 20 editorial staff members are in Baghdad.
