Sony debuts 42in plasma display for pro use



The FWD-42PV1 PlasmaPro flat panel display features two slots to accommodate a television tuner and the BKM-FW32 network card.
Sony Electronics has introduced a 42in flat panel plasma professional display. It features a 10,000:1 contrast ratio, W-VGA resolution (852x480), and the ability to display images and video from a wide assortment of inputs and formats.

The FWD-42PV1 PlasmaPro flat panel display features two slots to accommodate a television tuner and the BKM-FW32 network card, enabling users to monitor the display’s status and troubleshoot multiple networked displays from one central location.

The new display has a panel brightness of 1500cd/m² and a front-of-the-screen brightness of approximately 500cd/m² Power consumption is 260W (typical), stand-by:1W (120V), 0.7W (100V). A special edition model, the FWD-42PV1A/S, works effectively at high altitudes that can affect some plasma displays

The display has optional integrated speakers, delivering 7W per channel, for a total of 14W. The FWD-42PVI display will be available next month.
